Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an energy-based, holistic healing discipline developed in China about thousands of years ago and has been evolved over the centuries. Chinese Medicine has its unique views about health and our body self-healing power.

Oneness

Our health is the results of interaction with nature, social activities, the environment we live in.  The illness is brought about by either imbalance or disharmony of inner organs.

Wholeness

The human body is not isolated parts, rather, it is inter-dependent and connected from inside to outside of our body.

Individuality

The treatment plan is very much tailored to each individual based on each person’s health journey.

Effective

Do you know acupuncture is the second most frequent research topic? Numerous research has demonstrated the effectiveness of acupuncture with various illnesses.

Minimum side effects

It is deemed the safest treatment, usual side effects including slight pain at needle insertion side, bruise, bleeding which can disappear in days. Major side effect is very rare.

The effect of therapies we use to stimulate your body natural healing process peaks 3-5 days after each treatment. The accumulation of treatment effect built upon previous treatment helps to restore your body balance for healing.  It may take a few treatment to see the result so we have regular treatment at the begging and stretch interval gradually.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is performed by insertion of needles through the skin and is generally a safe method of treatment. It promotes self healing by stimulating movement of energy, eliminating stagnation and restoring imbalance.

Sometime, it combines with cupping, scraping, moxibustion and Chinese-style massage to achieve optimal result.

Its side effects are minor like insertion pain, brusies and major side effects are rare.

Cupping

Either glass or plastic cups are used to create vacuumed pressure to promote  blood flow, move energy stagnation/toxins, loose fascia or muscles to stimulate healing.  The cups will be left in for 5 to 15 minutes depending on conditions. It may leave mark on the skin. It usually fades in within a week.

Guasha

Another term is called Scraping: A scraper is used to scrape the surface of skin or meridians to promote  blood flow, move energy stagnation/toxins, loose fascia or muscles to stimulate healing.  It usually does not break the skin. It may leave mark on the skin for a full day to two weeks.

Moxibustion

Moxa sticks, which is made from Mugwart, is used to warm up the meridians, remove stagnation and promote healing.

It is very effective with cold conditions like colds, pain, hayfever. Sometimes, moxa is put on top of acupuncture needles to promote warm effect.

Chinese Massage (Tuina)

This therapy involves compressing, twisting, turning, rubbing, pulling and kneading the muscles, and can be used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion and scraping. It can be applied to help with various conditions e.g., ease pain, release tightness /spasm, detoxify, calm the mind.
